South Africa’s first cannabis act has been finally been signed into law by President Ramaphosa. After a four-year torturous path through Parliament, the Cannabis for Private Purposes Act is seeing the light of day. Qure has put together a practical guide as to what the new law means for you.
One of South Africa’s leading cannabis analytic labs, Qure, has published a very handy quick-guide as to what the Cannabis for Private Purposes Act means for you.
The controversial act was signed into law by President Cyril Ramaphosa on 28 May 2024, and has been criticised by stakeholders as not going far enough to legalize cannabis consumption. Nonetheless, it is a landmark piece of legislation in that it is South Africa’s first real cannabis law and will result in far-reaching legislative changes.
