President’s New Cannabis Advisor to Meet Stakeholders: Register here for Wednesday’s Indaba with Garth Strachan
Cheeba Africa is to host new presidential cannabis advisor Garth Strachan at a virtual meeting with industry stakeholders on Wednesday 31 August 2022. Strachan, who’s been in his position for three months, will report back on progress he’s made in aligning government departments around cannabis policy.

The webinar, which is entitled ‘The SA Cannabis Industry; Where to From Here?’, will feature Strachan, Private Sector Working Group lead Ayanda Bam and lawyer Paul Michael Keichel of Cullinan and Associates, The session is being hosted by Cheeba’s Trenton Birch.

Strachan, a former deputy director of trade and industry, has indicated that he’s in favour of creating one over-arching new cannabis and hemp law and has pledged to remove regulatory hurdles in getting a new cannabis economy off the ground.
The webinar comes at a time when cannabis has officially been included in the Country Investment Strategy where the export of high-THC medicinal cannabis has been identified as a new investment frontier.
