South Africa is being punted as a leading canna-tourism destination for American travellers. It ranks at 15 out of 48 "weed-friendly" countries for tourists, even though one can still be arrested for consumption in a public space. One of the ranking criteria for the survey by Weedar, was that of price per gram in US dollars.

Obviously there is a lot of variation in the theme, depending on quality etc etc, but the survey does provide a useful comparison between cannabis destinations as to how Americans view value.

South Africa came in as one of the cheaper dates at an average price per gram of US$5.70.  Based on an exchange rate of R18.50 = US$1.00, this works out at R105.45/gram. The most expensive listed cannabis destination in Weedar's view, is Chile where the average price per gram is US$12.40 (R229.40).
