The AbaThembu traditional regent is a wild card from the Wild Coast. He’s not shy to speak his mind, recently calling the ANC ‘the devil’s fart’. He’s always fighting with his family, has done jail time for attempted murder and kidnapping, and most recently was arrested after a domestic dispute involving an axe at one of the AbaThembu royal residences! With all that aggro, you wouldn’t think he’s a committed cannabis smoker. How committed? He once said he would only give up ‘dagga’ if former president Jacob Zuma gave up corruption! Not gonna happen! Now he’s urging Transkei cannabis farmers to proudly plant South African: “We want to use only seeds from AbaThembu, from AmaMpondo and from the Gcalekas. We don’t want our cannabis to be replaced by one from Jamaica or Japan.”
