About Gareth Prince
The veteran South African legal cannabis activist did not spare his words at the NCMP stakeholder workshop on 30 March 2021. In a succinct and elequant input into the proceedings he pulled the NCMP to pieces as a “top-down driven” effort that locked out public participation and alienated the existing cannabis industry. He accused the government of trying to imitate foreign cannabis models whereas Africa is a world leader in this respect and we should be forging our own frameworks. Prince, who’s had more than his fair share of putting up with the bullshit of anti-cannabis officialdom in trying to practice as a laywer, also hit the nail on the head: with no legal local adult-use market, SA’s cannabis reform is going to turn into blunder city. And by the way, he said, if government is serious about reform there should be an immediate halt to cannabis-related arrests.
